History Repeats - FIGHTING CHANCE
(from: Sacrifice And Struggle CD)
You came to these shores, so many years before,
escaping from war and strife
The story unfolds, a lost history is told,
you worked to try and build a better life
You survived the dustbowl years,
always holding back bitter tears
What you had to do, nearly tore you apart
A wife and three kids, were the reason for the things you did, proved to yourself that you had the heart
You worked all your life! Live another day, just to die!
What a tragic page, from our history
It kills me inside, to see your memory die,
you'll always be an inspiration to me!
You built with your hands, all the monuments of this great land, from shore to shore and sea to shining sea
Left out of the story, no room for you in all the glory,
it seems like a shame to me
A life lost in time, forgotten history,
the hand me downs of the "American dream"
The struggle in your heart,
you worked in the factories and in the yards,
I never knew, that you tried so hard!
It's not the wars and generals that make this country great,
the working class built this land
