"If you like hard edged Punk Rock in the vein of Bonecrusher and Discipline then you're going to love the Blackout Brigade. From the opening song 'Open Scars' this is full on Punk music right through to the closing song 'Dead Or Alive'. The tidy guitar work and bass lines really make this album what it is and you won't be disappointed with this album at all. For me tracks such as 'Death And Dishonesty', 'Firing Squad', 'On Our Own' and 'Fight For Your Life' really did it for me. When so many Punk bands these days sounding so lame it's hard to want to check out a new band on the scene but the Blackout Brigade are worthy of a listen. They're one of the few Punk bands with so much urgency in their sound and I'm glad they're flying the Punk flame. Top band. 9/10"

"This one’s for the non-dodgy skinheads out there. From the urban wasteland of Winnipeg comes this crew of rough-and-tumble hooligans. On this CD, they give us some well-played meat and potatoes oi-influenced streetpunk/hardcore a’la BONECRUSHER with slightly melodic moments which remind me of the BOUNCING SOULS. The BRIGADE features two vocalists which mixes things up nicely between the more aggro sound and the melodic sound. These folks would fit very nicely on a bill with KNUCKLEHEAD, the PROWLERS, and mid-90s AGNOSTIC FRONT. More quality you’ve come to expect from Insurgence Records!" (Inbred)

"Right on! Another solid release from Canada's premier street punk rock 'n' roll label out of Toronto! Insurgence has been consistently putting out top-notch material from some of the world's finest and best known left-leaning bands including ANGELIC UPSTARTS and THE OPPRESSED and THE BLACKOUT BRIGADE fits right in quite nicely for being relative newcomers. The music is tight and melodic with lots of chugga-chugga guitars layered with catchy leadss and ther are loads of big chanting/sing-along chourses. Highly recommended for any fan of really agressive and melodic streetpunk" (ML)

"Although we only recently received this fine record for the Canadian band The Blackout Brigade, apparently it was released in 2009 to decent local reviews. Inspired by bands such as Cocksparrer and Discipline as well Agnostic Front the tri-vocal delivery means there is plenty of variety in sound and much of it is in the streetpunk/oi and hardcore melodic variety with plenty rough around the edges grit. The great guitars and break neck bass lines along with the gang vocal choruses are atypically, angsty and adrenaline pumping. Title track 'Death and Dishonesty' is a bit Rancid-esque but a great song nonetheless and the sing along 'Firing Squad' and 'On Our Own' also stand out. The acoustic but incredibly resonating 'Call Of Your Dogs' strikes a chord and is another album stand out (avoiding the sing along on this track is futile!) The following track 'Fight For Your Life' with its bridged slower first half has a great build up and the gruff-vocal verses on the punkier second half repeat of the song work nicely. Altogether an uplifting and soaring album with plenty to throw your fists at and warm the vocal chords too!"
